Community Involvement

A company that has worked in one city since 1947 ends up woven into it. Three generations of the Heidler family have lived here, hired here, and sponsored here — and a great deal of that support has gone to local organizations without ever appearing on a truck or in an advertisement.

That's deliberate. Community support that exists to be photographed isn't really community support. We'd rather quietly back the things that matter to the people who work here and the neighbourhoods we serve, from Eastport and West Annapolis out through Severna Park, Arnold, Edgewater and the rest of Anne Arundel County.

Being genuinely local also shows up in less visible ways. Our technicians live in the communities they work in, which means the person who comes to your house may well have children at the same school. That tends to concentrate the mind about doing the job properly — the accountability is immediate and personal in a way it simply isn't for a company dispatching from two counties away.

Skilled trades in Maryland face a real succession problem: experienced plumbers are retiring faster than new ones are being trained, and the gap is widening. A company with a fifteen-year average technician tenure has an obvious interest in that pipeline.

We take training seriously as a result — our technicians get frequent opportunities to learn new skills across service, construction, gas, backflow certification and remodeling, and we're open to people early in the trade who show the right attitude even if they aren't yet licensed.
