What's the difference between filtration and softening?
Filtration removes physical and chemical contaminants — sediment, chlorine, iron, organic compounds. Softening specifically removes the calcium and magnesium that cause hardness. They solve different problems, and many homes need both.
Do I need treatment if I'm on county water?
Not for safety — Anne Arundel County water is treated to EPA standards. Most county-supplied households who install treatment do it for taste, odour, and to reduce the scale that shortens appliance life.
How often should well water be tested?
