Gas & Heating Services in Annapolis, MD
Heidler, Inc. is a plumbing, heating and cooling company — gas lines, boilers and gas fireplaces are all handled by our own licensed technicians. One local company, since 1947, for everything gas in your Annapolis home.
Everything Gas, Under One Roof
Plenty of companies that call themselves plumbers subcontract anything involving gas. We don't. Heidler has been a plumbing, heating and cooling company for its entire history, and our own licensed technicians handle gas line work, boiler service and gas fireplace installation and repair.
That matters because these systems overlap. A boiler problem can be a gas supply problem. A fireplace that won't light may be a valve, a thermocouple, or a line sized for a smaller appliance three renovations ago. When one company owns the whole picture, diagnosis is faster and nobody gets to point at somebody else's scope.
Our gas work covers gas line repair, installation and leak detection; boiler installation, repair and maintenance; and gas fireplace installation, repair, maintenance and gas log sets.

Why Gas Work Belongs With Licensed Technicians
Gas is unforgiving of shortcuts in a way that water isn't. An undersized line starves an appliance and causes incomplete combustion. A joint that wasn't leak-tested properly vents into a basement. A vent run that was extended without recalculating draft pushes combustion products back into living space. None of these announce themselves the way a leaking pipe does.
Every gas job we do is pressure-tested and leak-checked before it's signed off, and permitted where Anne Arundel County requires it. If you ever smell gas, leave the building first and call the utility from outside — then call us at (410) 268-7191 and we'll handle the repair.

Know the warning signs
When to Call for Gas & Heating Services
You Smell Gas
UrgentLeave the building immediately and call the utility from outside. Don't switch anything electrical on or off on the way out.
A Pilot Light That Keeps Going Out
Repeated pilot failure points to a thermocouple, a draft problem, or gas supply pressure — not something to keep relighting indefinitely.
Yellow Rather Than Blue Flame
UrgentA gas flame should burn blue. Yellow or orange indicates incomplete combustion, which produces carbon monoxide. Have it looked at promptly.
Uneven Heat or Cold Radiators
Rooms heating unevenly usually means air in the system, circulation problems, or a boiler struggling — all worth diagnosing before winter.

The Heidler difference
Why Annapolis Trusts Heidler
Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Since 1947
Gas has been part of what we do for our entire history — it isn't a sideline we added or a scope we subcontract.
One Company, Whole Picture
Line, appliance and venting all diagnosed together, so nobody gets to blame a scope boundary for an unsolved problem.
Tested, Not Assumed
Every joint is leak-checked before we sign off. With gas, 'it seems fine' is not an acceptable standard.
Flat, Honest Rates
We quote a flat rate before we start — dependable pricing with no hourly billing surprises and no upsells.

Questions?
Gas & Heating Services FAQs
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the building immediately and call the gas utility from outside. Don't switch anything electrical on or off, and don't look for the leak yourself. Once you're safe and the utility has been notified, call us and we'll handle the repair.
Do you actually do the gas work yourselves?
Yes. Gas lines, boilers and fireplaces are all handled by our own licensed technicians. We've been a plumbing, heating and cooling company since 1947 rather than a plumber who subcontracts anything with a flame.
Why is my gas flame yellow instead of blue?
A yellow or orange flame indicates incomplete combustion, which produces carbon monoxide. It can be a dirty burner, a venting problem, or an air supply issue. It's worth prompt attention rather than watchful waiting.
Do I need a permit for gas line work?
In most cases yes, and in Anne Arundel County the work needs to be inspected. We handle permitting as part of the job rather than leaving it to you to discover later during a sale.
Can you add a gas line for a range or outdoor grill?
Yes — new appliance connections are common work. The important part is sizing the supply so every appliance on the system still gets adequate pressure, which is a calculation rather than a guess.
