Rough-in is where a house's plumbing is actually determined. Drain routing and slope, vent stack positions, supply line sizing, manifold or trunk-and-branch layout, shutoff placement, and provision for future fixtures — every one of those is a decision made while the framing is open, and every one is expensive to revisit afterward.
Done well, the result is invisible: even pressure at every fixture, quiet operation, accessible shutoffs, and no surprises for the next twenty years. Done to the lowest possible price, the result is also initially invisible — and surfaces as the undersized line, the missing vent and the shutoff buried behind drywall that we get called about five years later.

Do you work directly with general contractors?
Yes, routinely — and also directly for owner-builders. Either way we handle the plumbing permits ourselves so code responsibility stays with the licensed trade.
