Most of what the newsletter covers follows the calendar, because plumbing here genuinely does. Winter brings frozen and burst pipes whenever temperatures sit below 20°F for a sustained stretch — homes with exterior walls, attic runs or unheated crawl spaces are most exposed, and insulating those lines in autumn is far cheaper than the repair.

Spring is our heaviest sump pump season. Snow melt and heavy rain raise the water table, and properties near the Severn, Magothy and South River discover the hard way whether their pump still works. Test it before March, not during.

Summer peaks water heater demand and accelerates scale buildup, which is why we push annual flushing before it. Autumn is the right moment for boiler and gas fireplace service — almost every emergency no-heat call we take in January was a fault that would have been visible and cheap in October.
